Ray Cotrufo and Justin Lovich
Ray Cotrufo and Justin Lovich, Sport Management Department, each successfully defended their dissertations and earned their Ph.Ds. Cotrufo’s topic was “Examining the Influence of Ethical and Authentic Leadership Behaviors of NCAA Division I Athletic Directors.” Lovich’s dissertation was titled, “‘Unprecedented’: A Study of the National Football League’s Regulation of Labor through Punishment.”

Alexis Blavos, Health Department, and colleagues had an article titled “Politics Spread COVID: Developing a Public Health Response” published in August in Health Promotion Practice.
Rhiannon Maton
Rhiannon Maton, Foundations and Social Advocacy Department, recently co-edited a special issue on education labor movements across the Americas for Critical Education journal. The issue is the fourth part of the “Contemporary Educator Movements: Transforming Unions, Schools and Society” special series that Maton co-edits for the same journal.
Eric Edlund
Eric Edlund, Physics Department, had his article titled “Lagrange Points and Regionally Conserved Quantities” published in the June edition of the American Journal of Physics. This work provides a new take on the analysis of the three-body problem that began about 250 years ago.
Will Montgomery
Will Montgomery, Communications Office, received the SUNY Council for University Advancement (SUNYCUAD) Judges’ Citation for Excellence in Photography/Individual Photograph for the Pan African Student Association Fashion Show. The photo, taken March 7, 2020 in Corey Union, is a runway shot of one of the many fashions designed and produced by students striving to raise awareness about African cultural heritage around the world. Montgomery covers campus events for the Communications Office’s social media accounts and university news services.

Kathleen A. Lawrence
Kathleen A. Lawrence, Communication Studies Department, just received word that her 5-7-5 poem “Fresh Squeezed Juice” was accepted for publication by the online journal Haikuniverse as one of the featured poems on the theme of Valentine's Day. Her triptych poem “Always Blue Cops” was published in the Spring 2018 issue of Rosebud Magazine. Her speculative poem “Cinderella Continued” appeared in Star*Line, Issue 41.1, the print journal of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association (SFPA). In addition, she recently learned that her poem “Just Rosie,” published in Eye to the Telescope in 2017, has also been nominated for a 2017 Rhysling Award from the SFPA, along with the Pushcart Prize for 2017.
Jaroslava Prihodova
Jaroslava Prihodova, Dowd Gallery, opened her solo exhibition titled “Out of Objectivity,” on view from April 4 to 29 at The Elsie B. Rosefsky Memorial Art Gallery, Binghamton University. The exhibition includes small objects, jewelry and sculptures produced in the last few years. She will deliver her Artist’s Talk among her works at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8.
Kyle Cannon
Kyle Cannon, Campus Activities and Corey Union, attended the National Conference of the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities, which was held Feb. 15 to 18 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, Pa. Kyle, in addition to his capacity as advisor to the Student Activities Board delegates, he worked at the conference as an event crew coordinator, leading a group of 28 student volunteers from SUNY Cortland and a number of other colleges and universities who were tasked with assisting session presenters and stamping programs for educational sessions and showcases, handing out conference swag and raffle tickets, and working and setting up the lunch and dinner showcases. In addition, the SUNY Cortland Student Activities Board was bestowed the National Boyd Jones Programming Board of the Year Award for their contributions to the SUNY Cortland campus and the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities community.
