About Human Services

The Human Service Studies Program offers students a cutting-edge program of study. Career opportunities abound in the field of human services. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, one of the most significant areas of employment growth in the next decade or so will be in human service occupations. The degree program combines a broad liberal education in the social and behavioral sciences and prepares students for employment in human services or graduate study in related fields. Graduates from this program are prepared to demonstrate the knowledge and skills for effective communication, listening, interviewing, case management, and cultural competence.

Career Potential

  • Social/case workers
  • Home health aides
  • Residential counselors

What Will I Learn?

This major emphasizes the multidisciplinary nature of human services by focusing on the mastery of concepts, theory and research from political science, psychology, health, sociology, recreation, economics, communications, and philosophy.
